Slow down, and breathe

One of the most fundamental aspects of our existence.

The Breath.

What is its Importance?

How Powerful is it?

How can you utilise it?

In your work life, it can be quiet and sometimes chaotic. In this chaos, we often forget to pay attention to one of the most fundamental aspects of our existence - our breath. Breathing is not just a simple involuntary action to keep us alive; it holds the key to unlocking a wealth of physical, mental, and emotional benefits. In this post, we will explore the importance of oxygen intake, slow breathing and how practising mindful breathing techniques under stress can amplify your life mentally and physically.

Oxygen is the elixir of life, fuelling every cell in our body and powering all bodily functions. Our brain alone consumes about 20% of oxygen, showing its significance in its crucial role in cognitive function and mental clarity. Proper oxygen intake is essential for maintaining healthy organs, boosting energy levels, and promoting overall well-being.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BREATHING
BENEFITS OF SLOW BREATHING IN 'CHAOTIC TIMES'
Reduces Stress
Enhances Emotional Regulation

When we slow down our breathing, especially by practising deep diaphragmatic breathing, we activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the body's relaxation response. This calms the mind, reduces stress hormones like cortisol, and fosters a sense of tranquillity and inner peace. Helping you step back and assess how to go forward without the weight of overloaded emotions.

Mindful breathing techniques help regulate our emotions by promoting self-awareness and encouraging present-moment awareness. By taking conscious control of our breath, we can respond to situations more thoughtfully and avoid impulsive reactions.

THE POWER

of oxygen cannot be underestimated, as it lies at the core of our existence and well-being. Oxygen is the life force that sustains every cell in our body, nourishing and energising them to perform their essential functions. It fuels our brain, enhancing cognitive abilities, focus, and mental clarity. Proper oxygen intake is vital in maintaining a healthy immune system, enabling us to combat infections and diseases more effectively. Moreover, deep and intentional breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing stress and promoting relaxation. By embracing the significance of oxygen intake and incorporating mindful breathing techniques, whether in our hot/cold magnesium pools, Hyperbaric chamber, or daily lives, we unlock the key to a healthier, more balanced, and enriched life.

HOW TO UTILISE THE POWER OF BREATHING AT RIGS
HYPERBARIC CHAMBER

How?

In the hyperbaric chamber, the pressurized environment facilitates a 30% increase in the body's oxygen intake. When combined with slow breathing techniques like box breathing, this enhanced oxygenation becomes even more effective. By adopting these practices, you can maximize the advantages of increased oxygen intake, unlocking a variety of benefits for your body.

CONTRAST WATER THERAPY

How?

During your contrast water therapy session, you will experience a 6°C cold plunge pool and a 38°C hot plunge pool. Using our cold pool is an excellent opportunity to practice controlled breathing. As you enter the cold water, your body reacts naturally to the sudden temperature change, creating a stress-like response. By practising focused breathing in this situation, you can increase your body's tolerance to such responses, enabling you to handle more without triggering your brain's alarm signals.
